Rockstar’s next big reveal skips YouTube for a six-hour Netflix exclusive.
Rockstar Games just flipped the script on how it shows new footage of Grand Theft Auto VI. An “Extended Look” at the game will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. Six hours later it lands on the official Rockstar YouTube channel and the GTA VI website at 9 p.m. ET.
The announcement dropped Thursday morning with a short teaser of protagonists Jason and Lucia. Netflix called the deal a first-of-its-kind partnership. Subscribers get the early window. Everyone else waits until the free YouTube upload.

What fans actually want
The previous two trailers leaned hard on cinematic storytelling. Trailer 1 dropped in December 2023. Trailer 2 arrived in May 2025. Both delivered atmosphere, characters, and Leonida vibes, but little actual gameplay. This “Extended Look” title has the community expecting something longer and more substantial — the kind of deeper showcase Rockstar has given near the end of past campaigns.
GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That puts this reveal roughly two and a half months out, the same window where Rockstar has historically shown more mechanical footage.
The Netflix play is pure scale. GTA reveals already break the internet. Putting the first window on a streaming service with hundreds of millions of subscribers turns the drop into appointment viewing. Non-subscribers still get the same footage free later the same day, so the exclusivity is temporary.
Pre-orders opened earlier this summer. Standard edition sits at $79.99. The Ultimate edition runs $99.99 with extra vehicles, weapons, and apparel. The single-player story remains the focus at launch.
Rockstar has stayed quiet for long stretches before. This time the studio and Netflix are counting down the days in public. August 27 is locked. Netflix first, then the rest of the world. Fans finally get a longer look at the most anticipated game in years.
